3 STEPS TO FLUID FIGURES

Master Character Movement in 3 Steps—Refined Figure Line Art That Breaks the Stiffness

Line art is the foundation of every drawing. To break through stiffness, what you really need is the design skill to capture the human body's rhythm. This course builds four abilities:

PROPORTION

Figure Proportion Diagnosis

Learn to quickly locate the body's zones, pinpoint the root of imbalance, and finally solve those long-standing proportion problems.

1
GESTURE

Efficient Gesture Capture

Use simplified structure to capture fluid movement, so your characters shed their stiffness and stop looking like soulless robots.

2
SPACE

Simple Ways to Capture Depth

Learn the simplest way to train your sense of space on a flat surface—compressing three-dimensional depth onto a two-dimensional page.

3
STRUCTURE

Simplifying Body Structure

You don't have to memorize every muscle, but you will firmly grasp the structural keys that truly matter when drawing the figure.

4

"I finished the character, but it still looks stiff and rigid."

  • The proportions always look off—head, hands, and body never line up, and you redraw it again and again
  • You want the character in a dynamic pose, but it comes out standing at attention like a robot
  • The image always looks flat—you can't capture depth or the foreshortening of the body

The problem isn't that you aren't trying hard enough—it's that you lack a clear order and logic for handling line art.

This course systematizes years of commercial line-art workflow, breaking down proportion diagnosis, gesture capture, and spatial compression all at once, taking you from "tracing lines" to "designing movement" and building a solid foundation for your work.

Course Syllabus

Move from chaotic, fragmented lines to precise rhythm, and master an efficient logic for character movement and line art.

CH 01

Laying the Foundation

One at a Time! A Staged Strategy for Line Art

Most people get stuck on line art because they too often settle for surface-level shape-catching, or try to nail every detail from the very start. In reality, line art can be handled in stages—this chapter takes you from big to small, simple to complex, solving just one thing per stage.

  • Big → SmallSet the big relationships first, then refine layer by layer
  • Simple → ComplexBreak line art into stages and avoid fussing over details too early
  • StrategyOne at a time: focus on a single task in each stage
CH 02

Building a Sense of Space

A Plan for Flat-Surface Spatial Awareness

The biggest headache when drawing on paper is fitting three-dimensional things onto a flat page. This chapter uses the simplest approach to bring real depth and volume into your image, for instant dimensionality.

  • 2-1Building flat-surface spatial awareness: simplified thinking about depth and volume
  • 2-2Practical methods for compressing 3D onto a 2D page
CH 03

Analyzing the Figure

Hands-On Practice with the Human Body

Through real examples, you'll understand actual human anatomy and how to view the body in a simplified way—efficiently grasping the key points when drawing figures, without memorizing every single muscle.

  • 3-1Anatomy analysis: viewing the body in a simplified way
  • 3-2Hands-on examples: capturing the key points of figure drawing
  • 3-3Proportion diagnosis: quickly locating the imbalanced zones

Expanding Your Arsenal

Versatile Sketching & a Three-Stage Practice Method

There's more than one way to start a sketch—it isn't only about lines! This chapter shows you versatile sketching approaches to gain more weapons and tools at the sketch stage, paired with a three-stage practice method to produce more complete drafts.

  • 4-1Versatile sketching: beyond lines, expand your sketching arsenal
  • 4-2Three-stage practice method: efficiently building up draft completeness

FAQ

Can complete beginners take this course?

For total beginners, we recommend starting with our shorter courses—the LINE Sticker Course or Distinctive Creature Character Design—to build up basic skills. You'll find this course much smoother afterward.

Do I need any special software?

The demonstrations use the Adobe Photoshop CC series; we recommend Photoshop CS6 or later. If you use other software (such as Clip Studio or Procreate), we suggest making sure you're comfortable with the basics—creating layers, using brushes, and setting canvas size and resolution—before purchasing.

Can I ask the instructor questions during the course?

Absolutely—ask anytime! We provide a dedicated Discord discussion group and online meetups, where the instructor personally replies and offers feedback on your work.

If I miss an online meetup, can I still catch up?

The meetup recordings are posted in the paid course's Discord group, so be sure to join our Discord course area—you can watch back even if you miss the live session.

Can overseas students enroll?

Yes! Please note that the instructor teaches in Chinese. If you need English subtitles, they will be added gradually after the Chinese version is released.

What payment methods are available?

We offer online credit card, barcode payment, and online ATM. Overseas students are welcome to purchase, and installment plans are available for those who'd like to spread out the cost.
