10 Weeks to Systematize "Semi-Realistic Impasto" and "High-Tension Lighting" All at Once
The tension in Western game-novel covers comes from four core skills you can break down. This course helps you build each one:
Character Form & Appeal
Master the facial proportions and dimensionality of Western fantasy characters, with flexible starts that hold solid form without relying on rigid line art.
Tell Stories with Light
Build solid volume from pure grayscale, master the logic of light sources, and create a picture full of dramatic tension and narrative mood.
The Magic of Clean Color
Layer-blend coloring plus the industry "hidden color / color-swap" techniques let you color grayscale fast and finally say goodbye to muddy build-up.
Materials & Magic Effects
Crack the rendering of metal armor and leather fabrics, and paint game-grade magic effects and lavish visual elements.
"The character's clearly finished, but the colors just keep getting muddier and look totally plastic."
- ✕Your sketch is always the peak—everything falls apart the moment you start coloring
- ✕Lighting has no logic, light and shadow don't line up, and the image looks flat and lifeless
- ✕You want Western fantasy commissions but can't capture that polished, epic feel
The problem isn't that you aren't trying hard enough—it's that you lack a lighting and coloring workflow that carries you from sketch to finish.
This course systematizes and breaks down years of Western commercial impasto commission know-how, using the plainest logic to move you from "blindly stacking color" to "designing light," so in 10 weeks you'll paint a high-value signature piece ready for the market.

FAQ
Can complete beginners take this course?
This is a "hands-on practice course" focused on impasto lighting, dimensionality, and commercial finish concepts. We recommend students have basic digital painting software skills (such as layer operations and brush switching), as we won't start from the very basics of the software interface. If you can already do basic sketching and coloring but feel stuck at "flat images" or "muddy build-up," this course is perfect for you! If you're unsure whether it's a fit, feel free to share your work with us via our official LINE, and we'll discuss the right learning plan for you.
Do I need any special software or equipment?
Any drawing device that supports layers and pressure sensitivity works (such as a graphics tablet or iPad). There's no software restriction—Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, and Procreate are all fine, as the concepts carry across—but the instructor's in-class demos are mainly in Photoshop (PS).
Can I ask the instructor questions during class?
Absolutely! That's the biggest advantage of a live practice course. You can comment during the live session and the instructor will answer you in real time. After class, we also have a dedicated LINE / Discord student group where you can ask questions and share progress anytime—no worries about having no one to turn to after class.
What if I have to miss a week? How do I make it up?
Don't worry! After each live session, we provide a dedicated "72-hour full replay" so you can flexibly schedule your make-up time, or rewatch and practice the techniques you're less familiar with.
What's the class format and where does it take place?
This is a 10-week "exclusive online live course"—wherever you are, all you need is an internet connection! Before the course begins, we'll send the dedicated live-room link to your email and the student group.
What payment methods are available?
We accept one-time credit card payment and ATM transfer. To ease the burden, we also offer credit card installments up to 12 months and "Chailease zero-card installments," with a minimum of just $708 per month—so you can upgrade your painting skills painlessly.
