Chosen or not, your drawing appears in this month's gallery. Being seen is the reward.
Picks of the month
The teacher chooses three to five pieces worth sharing and talks about them at the meetup. No ranking, and the number varies.
Named picks — best idea, biggest leap, community favourite — come and go depending on what gets submitted. The reward isn't cash: it's full feedback, a homepage feature and a challenge badge.
Free to join, membership for the rest of the way
The challenge itself is always free. Membership starts where you need the teacher to look at your drawing and tell you what to do next.
Free streams pick a small number of pieces at random as public examples, as time allows — feedback is never fixed or guaranteed. So that more people get a turn, anyone whose work was shown recently gives way to participants who haven't had feedback yet.

How the challenge works
Taking part
- Submit one drawing and you've taken part. It's free — all you need is a weichenstudio.com account.
- One theme per round, and you can submit at any stage. Finish isn't the bar; picking up the pen is.
- The optional challenge is there for people who want extra difficulty — skipping it still counts as finished.
- One piece per person. You can re-upload any time while submissions are open, and the new one replaces the old.
- You can attach a sentence with your drawing (up to 120 characters); it appears next to your piece.
About the work
- It has to be drawn by you (digital or scanned traditional both count).
- Any software: Procreate, Clip Studio Paint, Photoshop, ibisPaint, Krita and traditional media are all welcome.
- JPG / PNG / WebP, up to 8MB.
- Interpret the theme however you like. Please label study copies; photographed or reposted work by others will be removed.
- You always keep the copyright. Uploading only means you're happy for it to appear in this month's gallery and to be looked at during the meetup.
Timing and rhythm
- Every theme announcement states the opening and closing dates.
- There are no weekly deadlines — one drawing a month is enough, and the WIP points in between are optional.
- Once submissions close, the round quietly wraps up and the gallery stays online.
- At the month-end meetup we look through the work together and the teacher talks about a few pieces — no ranking.

- That's fine. The next theme won't be long. The point of the challenge is rhythm, not pressure — enjoy everyone else's drawings this round and join in on the next one.

Yes. Sketches and works in progress are welcome — there's no "good enough" bar here. Often, being willing to show it is the progress.
No. Finishing the theme counts. The optional challenge is for people who want to make it harder on themselves, and beginners can skip it entirely.
